Been wanting to make this for a bit, maybe I'll actually finish it this year ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Goals: Look as stock as possible Last as long as a gamepad (at least 3 hrs) Work Come up with a good name So far I have most of the parts in, waiting on the plastic bit that covers the camera hole, the bezel piece, regulators, audio amp, heatsink, and some other parts I probably haven't thought of yet... I got myself a usb battery bank from Walmart, 20$ for 10,000mAh ain't bad. Almost immediately ripped it apart, two flat cells in parallel, with a fairly tiny protection/regulation/charging pcb. It has a 2.5A and a 1A output, perfect for the Wii and it's components. My trimmed Wii from last year's content is still screwed up, so I'm gonna trim another one. I'm still using the messed up Wii to make sure everything will fit when I put the new Wii in there, after this I'll fix it, but I don't want to in this portable I've started to lay everything out inside, and so far it all fits! I should be able to fit the rest of the stuff, since there is a decent amount of space around the sides that is open for stuffing. I need to try and get the weight a little more even though, the battery makes the right side heavier to the point that you can actually tell when holding it... May end up putting some weight in the left wing of the shell to even it out
Now I want to make mine in a Wii-U gamepad even more! You should call it the Wii-PU and paint it like a hunk of cheddar.
Hey look I cut a new Wii, should work wonderfully when I wire USB and Bluetooth to it. Tested with the PTHs and composite video you see attached (the board boots). Will be replacing the PTHs with PowerMii, and the composite video with GCVideo. As a side note, I had some issues with my U10 relocation. When I removed U5 it took a couple pads with it, so I had to lift the output pin so it wouldn't touch the board. When I measured the output pin with my meter it was all over the place and the board wouldn't boot (no signal, not black screen), so if you run into that, try this!
I think ill buy one immediatly. It looks amazing, exactly what i need. I cant possibly mess this up. How expensive is it gonna be? Or hasnt that been decided?
Not to necro a thread, but should be around $90 provided nothing changes. I've been looking at them as well. Edit: Figured I'd include a link to @Aurelio's interest page: https://bitbuilt.net/forums/index.php?threads/wiihud-powermii-interest-check.1493/
That's for PowerMii full. The one with just the regulators board (that I think he was refering to) is PowerMii Lite, which is now down to $40 I believe: https://bitbuilt.net/forums/index.php?threads/powermii-lite-interest-thread.1415/
