Alright I think it’s time for me to start a thread about my entry for this summer contest.
Let’s start from the name. Due to the costs required to manufacture (and debug/fix) a fully integrated Wii motherboard, I put aside the piizza 2.0, and I am going to build something that has the same features, but I will use a trimmed Wii (most likely an OMGWTF trim, no need to cut it smaller).

These are the most probable features it will have:
- 5” 800x480 LCD, most likely the Eyoyo using component video
- Full PowerMii with complete WiiHUD and digital audio amp
- GC+ 2.0
- Patched out WiiMotes, replaced by the gamecube controller and other controls
- 3D printed clamshell design
- 10Ah 3.7V li-po battery (estimated battery life slightly below 4 hours)
- DS lite buttons with 3DS sliders
- Secret features that will be revealed soon hopefully

I will post pictures of the progress soon

Where is the lcd driver board? Did you remove a couple caps to fit it?

It’s in the top lid and yes, I had to modify it quite a bit to make it fit. I will post pics of it eventually

Are you using the Eyoyo in this?

While I am still working on the case design, I put a lot of thought into the heatsink setup. I decided to use a heatpipe to “guide” the heat from the processor to one of the portable sides. I then soldered small heatsinks at the end of the pipe.

I was thinking about the exact same setup for another portable. Awesome! Aurelio, I am so looking forward to this portable :D

I am super close to finishing the design of this case. There are a lot of custom PCBs involved, starting from simple buttons/GC+ boards up to more complex ones such as the USB C with power delivery support and PowerMii.

Looks good, can't wait to see the case once it's printed!

Have you thought about what color schemes you're gonna go with?

I am probably going for a metallic black case with black buttons :D
