Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to the database so far! It looks like the data we have collected has turned out to be useful to finding a correlation, and helping a few people find more of those sweet, sweet 4 layer boards. Keep those numbers coming, as every one helps.

So.. I was looking though the sheet a minute ago, and I noticed a few new patterns.
- LU 7, 8 or 9 is confirmed 4 layer
- LU 6 is basically confirmed 6 layer
- LU 2 is 4 layer
- LU 115xxxx or higher (but still LU1xxxxx) is 4 layer
I found this while sorting the serial numbers through with some different ways:
Another interesting thing is, that the first number mostly stands for color, and that after that the revisions all map to the second and third number sequentially. You can see it again here with black Wiis:
Maybe its a good idea to sort everything sequentially by serial number in the main sheet so you don't have to convert everything like I did just now to see the patterns. Since there definitely are very clear sequential patterns.

1) 100-113 is 6 layer, 114+ is 4 layer
2) 2 is all nonwhite
3) 3 is all six layer
4) 4 is rare, with only one white wii recorded, but so far all are 4 layers
5) 5 is all 6 layer
6) 6 is 6 layers
7) 7 is 4 layer
8) 8s are all black
9) 9s are red
Of these, the only ones we need to worry about are the white wiis that are possibly 4 layer. That leaves serial numbers 1, 4, and 7. Serial number 4 only has a few documented consoles, and of those only one is white, however they are all 4 layer so it's a good number to keep in mind. However, the numbers you are most likely to be looking for are serial numbers are 7s or 1s in the 114+ range.
