I feel like a nice long conversation between Gman, Cheese, and I on teamspeak is something we would all really enjoy. Between Gman's hardware and soldering skills, Cheese's talent for analyzing data signals, and my general knowledge of the Wii and enthuasism, we could solve quite a few problems in a very short amount of time

We have a big problem that I just discovered. Half of the DD pins that go to the GPU on the top layer don't have a via connecting it to the bottom of the board. Either we solder 8 wires to those tiny traces that fall apart really easily or we can't have Wii game functionality on smaller trims. We really need a solution to ditch the DD for Wii games. Maybe those data pins aren't necessary for the Wii to recognize the DD is present idk.

It really seems like we could use something on the software end. I remeber reading somewhere it's possible just never been done because there's never been a need.

Should totally be possible with software. My only question is has anyone tried crossing drives from different revisions? I wonder if the call is any different from revision to revision.

Shank said he has a friend who might be able to do this for us. Sounds like its being looked into already.

Different revision drives work in different boards, I've hooked up a RVL-01 (first revision wii) dd to a RVK-02 (family edition without gamecube ports) and it loaded/ran games just fine, no dd errors.

So if shank's buddy, for some reason, can't get that working, we would still be able to make a chip to replace the DD

Just realized something.

The G in Gman obviously stands for god.

Neat. I can dive into wii software modding at a later time, too busy with N64 stuff and forum work at the moment though.

The ability to disable daughterboards by installing WADs would be absolutely huge. Probably a simple patch for someone with the right skillset, but it would be the biggest breakthrough yet. It's almost certainly possible; the problem is finding someone capible of doing so.

Just got another Wii in the mail today, when I opened it, a penny fell out of the disc drive. I'm getting good feels about this board.

Powering the GPU and CPU separately since there has been some concern with shorting them.

Also this.

That's legit. I love the little baggie spacer between the mobo and the regulators. One time I used a biscuit for the same purpose.

That's one of Ashen's cases, right?

Yeah Ashen gave it to me like 2 years ago and finally just getting to it now lol, I'm glad I waited. I'm doing some filling/painting on the case currently since this was one of his first trial runs that he didn't get perfect, still pretty sweet though.

You really need to hop on the Panasonic train. 3400mah 18650s. I've got 12 and they're awesome.

So I've heard. Will be trying them out at some point but they are also 5mm longer than these so wont fit in this case.

Explain more? The ones I have are 65mm long. Are those 60?
Oh nice, where you get them? The ones on battery space have a built in pcb protection and are 70mm long. I only trust battery space though.
