I wouldnt suggest that one, unless its like a big name company that you have seen else where, also, look up reviews, On google and amazon.

I would suggest this one maybe https://www.amazon.com/Weller-WLC10...ie=UTF8&qid=1499829140&sr=1-1&keywords=Weller

Do something like that, or if you have the money, i hear the Hakko-888FX is a good.

I have this beast, and can vouch for X-Tronic's quality. Of course, this one is really overpriced (I got mine used for cheaper) but it sure looks awesome! Definitely go Hakko or Weller for a starter iron, though.

@Kris It's pretty nice! I was so sick of my $5 pencil iron melting my table and setting stuff on fire that a big upgrade was a necessity. I'm sure we all can relate to that! :XD:

If you plan on doing anything after one or two projects, then it's definitely worth putting a bit of money into a good iron. If this is the case then you'll want an iron that won't crap out on you. The one's listed above are great irons I'm sure, though the one I've been using and have owned for probably 6 years now is the Weller WES51. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BRC2XU
The price may seem a little high compared to others, but it is worth it from my experience. I personally bought the digital one because at the time I wanted to buy the most high end station I could find, but I'm sure the analog works just the same :)

I personally have a 120$ RadioShack station that works fine for my needs, it's lasted through a few years of (ab)use. The first iron listed doesn't look terrible, but I'd recommend a more reputable brand. I can say from experience that having a bad starter iron doesn't help, and it will end up costing you more in the long run in ruined boards, desks, hands, etc, and will also demotivate you when relatively easy tasks are more difficult than they need to be.

I have the xtronic all in one station. Some parts came DOA, but everything that worked has continued to work. Its alright, but if it was stolen I wouldn't buy it again. I still think the best starter iron is a Hakko 888D tho.
