There is no work log that I’m familiar with that has ever had a working ED64Plus in a portable.

I have been struggling the past weeks trying to figure out why my trimmed N64 will not read an ED64Plus flashcart. I currently have the cart slot wired up and it reads every N64 game perfectly. Every N64 cart, except the ED64Plus flashcart. The exact ED64Plus cart works perfectly in an untrimmed N64. I have tried wiring straight to the flashcart with no luck. Does anyone have any tips, advice, or experience in this same situation?

I have tried two different ED64Plus carts, but work on untrimmed n64, both don’t work on trimmed n64.

PIF7 (one required for everdrive) is wired to the cart slot

I suspect its a power issue. Run thicker wires for the power and ground running to the cart slot

Using 22Awg wire and still…(green is ground as well) no luck, confirmed this setup works with actual carts, just won’t work with ED64Plus… anyone have any other ideas? @Shank

Can’t say it’ll be the issue but the ed64plus has a trick to swap something to do with pal and ntsc says on the back of the cartridge, couldn’t hurt to see if that’s an issue

@vipe_202 i just tried both regions and still the same thing. The 3.3v is coming in as 3.2v, could that be an issue?

I see one of the pins on the front row and back as well has no connection to it maybe that's it
That's the only thing I can see

Did you connect every pin as stated in the guide? It's hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like several pins do not have wires connected.

Also note the everdrive specific pin in Drownings pinout

Just double checked @Shank they are all connected, the only ones that aren’t wired are the ones said to not goto anything (pins 13,14,24, 38, 39, and 49)

I have had people advise me to buy an actual Everdrive 64, but those are 200 USD and if the ED64Plus is a clone, if this setup doesn’t work, it’s risky to think an real ED64 would work

I have no N64 trimming experience, but the first BitBuilt diagram says to connect everything except 24 and 49. I suspect this also includes 13 and 38 as well?

I wonder if it's a power draw thing. The everdrive draws a lot more power than a regular cartridge. How much is your pms battery charged? Maybe try throwing 2 cells (of the same charge level) into it rather than one, and/or fully charging them.

Just tried that @Shank
I think I’m going to redesign the case for actual carts, I want this project to get finished. One day I’ll come back to it and maybe have a real everdrive 64 then. As of right now, I don’t think the ED64Plus will work on a trimmed n64.
