I need to attach the cart slot to the back of the case (which I can do with a could L brackets) but I'm not sure how to go about making the cover, any suggestions?

If you have access to a 3D printer then I'd suggest you do that. Local colleges will usually do it for a good price.

Otherwise you can make it out of anything: cardboard, acrylic, wood.

If you have some pictures of your case post them and we can make some better suggestions. But really it comes down to how you want your case to look.

Hot glue.

On two of my portables, I build a shelf with plastic and epoxy to solidly mount the cartridge connector. Then I build a cover by epoxying Plastic pieces into a boxish thing. Then hot glue that bitch on. If you are careful It can look half decent too. I'll post pictures when I'm off work.

Here's the epoxy and plastic shelf.

With the cartridge slot.

And the hot glued cover.

Like I said, it looks half decent. The only place it looks bad is where I cut too much out on the bottom for the expansion pak.
