Thoughts on switch 2 prices

I know most people in these forums are probably aware of the Switch 2 and it's prices, but I'm curious on peoples actual thoughts or if anybody is planning to buy it or pre-order. Me personally between Nintendo online, joycon drift, and the garbage of tears of the kingdom (personal opinion but it was 70$ to be fair), I have full confidence that I'm done with modern Nintendo, but other people may see it differently so feel free to add on or oppose.

I'm not particularly thrilled with the pricing of games. I don't think they have any business being as expensive as they are, especially digital software, however physical cartridges I can somewhat understand being expensive since we're starting to get pretty large in terms of single flash chip storage size requirements.

Regardless, the price of the console itself seems fair. Given it's feature set, inflation, tariffs, and other reasons, $450 for the base unit seems fair to me.

I can understand being done with Nintendo, as their current practices have been less than pro-consumer, I'd even go so far to say anti-consumer at times. It's very clear that they keep their bottom line closer to their hearts than their customer base.

I agree that the base console price seems fair, but I also think Nintendo has completely missed it's target audience. The Nintendo line up has always been for kids and less experienced people in the world of gaming, yet the console is the same price as the PS5 and seems way less oriented as a console towards those people. I'm also astounded by the fact it has around an 1 hour less of battery.

It'll be $700 dollarydoos in Australia and we don't have any bullshit tarrifs. Shipping from China is a hop and a skip, it shouldn't be so high for us. If any discounts arise I'll probably end up picking one up so I can play not-Bloodborne 2, but it's definitely a bad move that indicates that Nintendo has chosen money for the long haul.

At that 400$ I’d spend 200 more dollars and buy a ROG ally X or a steam deck (heck I could buy one of those for cheaper than that) or I’d just wait till they make a cheaper revision

I've seen reports that they're delaying the preorders in the US (which would've started in April 9th) because of tariffs... So it could be even more expensive than 450/500 over there. I think I'll wait a few months before buying one. I'll wait for stock to stabilize and see how the whole pricing thing develops. (not like I'm gonna be buying it in my country anyways which I assume will be between 1200/1500 usd...)

As for the prices themselves, I think they're fair... we've grown used to prices not increasing even though inflation is a thing. Games have been 60 usd for decades even though production and development costs are way higher than what they used to be. (granted, they're selling way more copies now but whatever). The main issue is working class salaries being worth less and less as time goes by. Buying power of average salaries nowadays is nowhere near what it used to be back in the gc/ps2/dc era.

honestly the console is fair dosent have much power but is full of features which is something i like the price for me is decent not good but not bad

now the games are a diferent story 90 f for a game is umbelivable but for me i dont think it il be a problem where i live the eshop has zelda for 70 dolars a phisical store for 60 to 50 and walmart for 80 f dolars (and they only have 6 games)

but honestly i think every one is saying shit blind we dont have the console yet and we dont know a lot about it
it could lunch better or it could be a new shit show like (ps3 at lunch, the ps5 and xbox, the wiiu, the virtual boy, etc)

for me only time will tell

I think it's kinda ridiculous, if I'll get a switch 2 then when I'm in France at the end of June. Saw it on French amazon for 360euro with games just 60 euros

Its gonna release soon. unfortunately I have no money and I'm 14 so I cant possibly just pull 450 dollars out of thin air. I wanted it for my birthday on the 16th, but its unlikely that will happen because I am going out of town on the 5th and my family is gonna spend lots there and my parents just don't have the money for that right now. maybe around Christmas I'll get one? I'll try saving up for one.

I had a choice between the switch 2, and the ASCII GameCube keyboard controller. I chose the controller. No regrets.
