I have never seen something like this and I love it! It's such a neat idea to have a monitor and game console combo, not to mention it looks really well-crafted too.
 
For a second I thought there were 3 N64s in there... Nope, that's the display driver :P

This thing would be incredible for Pokemon Stadium.

The design started when I was trying to build a quick and dirty all in one solution to compare the quality of the RGB output on the N64. Then due to the size the multiplayer part came naturally.

Yeah it takes a lot to get and RGB signal train to work on the N64. This makes handheld RGB out of the question for an N64 portable, atleast until somebody gets really creative.

This thing would be incredible for Pokemon Stadium.

Oh it is, as well as any of the slew of great 4 player N64 library. I like that it's one unit that only requires power to take places.
 
Sorry to post in this, just wanted to say this is an awesome idea! Also one question, did you wire the n64 directly to the gbs 8200 or did you also use a sync strike?
 
It depends on the revision of the N64.

Rev3 boards still have the RGB sync line intact so you can just use that as is.

Rev4 boards don't have RGB sync. So on a Rev4 you have to use either the SVideo Luma line or the Composite Video line for sync. The Sync Strike circuit is designed to clean up the Composite to turn it into a better sync line. From my understanding the Sync Strike just strips the color out of the Composite Video signal (which is what the Luminance line is in the SVideo signal already is).

Either way you still need to amplify the RGB signal so it's not too dark. A THS7314 is a common video amp.
 
Thanks for the heads up, I just checked the pinout of the THS7314. Seems pretty straight forward.
