Question 12v battery power

I've decided to make a laptop portable Wii without a trim but have a couple of question. First question is which battery supply should I use. I've seen a AA x 8 battery holder on Amazon.

SMAKN 8pcs battery AA 12v clip holder. - Amazon choice.

Would this power a Wii? If so for how long?

Second question is: Can the Wii be soft modded to boot without the DVD drive.

No, not even close. That could start a fire, don't do that. What you're looking for for that purpose is a 12.6v, or better yet; a 14.8v lithium ion battery pack. If you live in the US, you can get a pack made for you at https://batteryspace.com. It'll need a smart charger of matching voltage.

Yes, in fact we have a whole software package dedicated to allowing the Wii to boot with as few "required" peripherals as possible. You can find more info on it here.
