You know I would never write a post like that. ;)

But in all seriousness you should add a note that if you have issues with the voltage ripple in your video or audio signal, that they can add an output capacitor of 47uF or bigger to help.

Hi.
I have an issue with the 1.9 regulator. U think that is right soldered. Put some voltage and i measured with a testero the output. First gives me 1.9, then starts to get greater output voltages up to 3.0 volts, next down to muchos lower tan 1.9. I touched the chip of regulator and gets hyper hot. I disconnect the input voltage to prevent ton fry the reg.

For 1.9v you need to have a 100uf capacitor on the input and output. It doesn't look like you have one on the output because I can't really tell from your pictures but make sure you have one on your output. If you triple check your wiring and any other possible problems and it doesn't work, try new/larger capacitors.
 
Adding to this, SS, Zenloc said in his guide you need to have caps on the input and output. Is this incorrect?
 
the caps are only for voltage stabilization i think its not 100% nesessary..

well my ptr its broken. if i put 1k resistor i get 0.6v, starts to get hot and starts to decrease volts
 
I'm definitely planning to update and re-release this guide(and use it as a foundation for some additional ones) once I get the PortablizeMii pack out. It's taking longer than I thought it would, but we're trying to get it perfect.
 
Is the reason the PTR08100 is used for 1.9v instead of just another PTH08080 because of the higher max output current? Was thinking of using 4 PTH08080 for 1v, 1.15v, 3.3v, and 5v for a wii regulator...

The 1.9v line on the gc requires more amps than what the pth08080 can provide. For the Wii the PTH08080 is fine :)

The 1v and 1.15v line pretty much maxes out the PTH08080. The output current of those regulators varies slightly between parts. Most of the time is does work with a single PTH08080, but one time I tried it, it wouldnt turn on unless I put the 3rd one in. Just be advised :)

Yeah but you are using a single regulator for both lines, right? If you use a regulator for each line then you won't have any problem
 
Noob question. I wanted to double check my thinking, please correct me if I am making obvious error. I realize the current draw from the gamecube is too high on the 1.9v line to use a PTH08080 if powering both GPU/CPU off the same line. I was reading and saw that you can power the GPU and CPU separately to optimize power consumption, and that the 5v line is not needed if you are not using rumble. If this is the case am I able to use just 3 PTH08080 regulators; 1 for 3.3v, 1 for 1.7v (GPU), 1 for 1.5v (CPU).
 
I don't think it's ever been done, but that's not to say it won't work. Ashen used 3 regulators in his gameboy fusion and he didn't opt for 3 pth08080s so idk http://modretro.com/xen/index.php?threads/gameboy-fusion.11635/
So in your portables do you use the configuration in the diagram above, just wondering because I am confused as to what the 5v does and whether it is needed. Sorry but there are just so many conflicting threads throughout the forums.

Yes I use that configuration but without the 5v regulator. 5v is only needed for a few gimmicks like rumble or a few other things. I only use Wii custom regulators now B|
 
For wii and gamecube the 5v line is used for fans, rumble, and peripheral devices on the memory card slot. (I don't know if any memory card peripherals actually used it). One the wii specifically it's used for the USB power power.
