Ive been thinking about building a wii portable for coming up on 6 years now basically since covid but didn't have the soldering skills or money required back then (arguably I still don't have either of those things).
I have a very rough plan I've been cooking up:
Trim: Not decided yet but if space allows id rather go for the OMGWTF trim (Definitely not the OMEGA trim that is beyond me)
Screen: 5-6 Inch TPS display not decided specifics yet
Battery's: Between 2 18650s or a 10,000mah Li-Po from something like an Anker 313 I'm leaning towards this because that seems to be most cost effective option
Power Delivery: I know this will sacrifice a lot of battery life but I'm just going to use some buck converters as its cheap if there are any majour problems with this other than heat and battery life please let me know
Charging: i have a bag of standard lithium battery chargers (i think these ones) i believe these should work fine
Controls: instead of using the GC+ im going to use a pi pico as it has the same number of gpio pins as the GC+ has input pins
Audio: Im going to use some cheap laptop speakers & a cheap audio driver board possibly with bluetooth but most likely not
Other Features:
My wii should be here by the weekend ready for me to trim I'll update then

Other Features:
- HDMI output on the bottom next to usb-c port for docking
- Bluetooth relocation so i can still connect Wiimotes
- IR LEDs for on the go gaming
