So I not too long ago rewatched some of Ginger’s (not gonna ping him because he might get a little mad ) portable Wii videos and at first I thought, “Yeah, that’s not happening.” but then I thought, “Wait actually, I could research the topic and see if it’s something I maybe can do.” and then after a quick google search, I saw the Wii trimming guide, of course I then slightly studied it and I thought it was doable, so I went ahead and bought a Wii for $10 on eBay and while waiting, I watched Ginger’s Wii trimming guide VOD and read through the trimming guide again (also I did not read the Wi-Fi, SD, or Gamecube controller relocations as I don’t think I’ll need them).

Then when the great day came, I opened the Wii smelled not too great, and there was some kinda bug or something against the fan vent

Yeah I think I got a roach Wii, there were only like 3 though so it wasn’t the worst thing in the world.

I’m happy to say the Wii did at least work and I threw everything away but the motherboard, then I gave the motherboard a nice IPA bath.

Next thing I did was do a U10 relocation which I think turned out alright.

I know it doesn’t look the best but it’s not awful, I also know that I don’t really have to do a U10 relocation at least now since the PMS Lite/2 exist but I more of did it because it’s not really a hard thing to do and I of course had to make sure I could do it

Also I tried doing a Bluetooth relocation…

So the soldering looked eh but It didn’t work and I was then told after asking about why it didn’t work that the wires for Data 10/11 need to be twisted because they're differential signals? I think that’s the word yeah. I haven’t redone it as of the time I’m writing this, might redo in the future.

That’s really all I’ve done so far! I’m buying a PMS Lite and a P100 respirator soon so I can trim my Wii :3

Thank you for actually reading this if like you know, anyone did, means a lot <3

Ah the dreaded roach Wii... Sorry you have to deal with that on your first go around. From what I can tell, your via soldering for U10 looks surprisingly good especially for a first time! The U10 relocation itself does have room for improvement, but still looks decent enough. Have you tested the console since relocating U10? Would be good to verify it works if you haven't already. I should also mention that you're taking a really good approach relocating U10 before trimming! Doing that, NAND relocations, and I think also AVE relocations are ALWAYS easier to troubleshoot pre-trim!

One last thing I'll mention is that you should verify continuity between the voltages on bluetooth module with a multi-meter. It's very easy to solder a magnet wire without it being properly tinned and to have issues because of it. Yours doesn't look tinned enough, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that's why it wasn't working! I had this problem on my Cyxty Four when I optimized my RCP wiring, and it scared the crap out of me. That magnet wire in specific can be harder to properly tin, I've had some weird behavior where some sections of it just don't want to tin no matter what I do. Not sure what the deal with that is, but I thought you should know!

thank you with the U10 stuff lol, and yes it was tested and it boots RVLoader just fine

also i’ll check the Bluetooth module to see if each point is getting what it needs, thank you!
