Ghosts SSWiiT Revitalized

I got a Wii to boot to the homebrew channel without Wifi or Bluetooth, just custom regs and the U10. So far nobody understands why.

Does it show the homebrew list or is it stuck with the WiFi icon blinking?

Wifi icon's blinking. I can't really say for sure on the list considering I don't even have an SD card connected to it.

Oh in that case it is a known thing. It is stuck there because it is waiting for the WiFi module to give its status

Oh and FWIW, if someone is interested in using the Wii just for the Gamecube games (not even wii homebrews) than it is possible to remove both the WiFi and the BT module without messing with custom IOSes, but it is kinda limiting

Yeah that's what I was gonna say, for strictly Gamecube only Wiis(aka set priiloader to boot to nintendont) this is interesting. It'd probably also be compatible with a modified version of HB channel that doesn't check for wifi, wouldn't it?

Anyways, according to cheese, some Wiis won't boot to anything at all unless the Wifi is connected. So more testing is required I'd say

A modified nintendont version is also needed, to remove every calls to the bluetooth and the wifi modules.
The HBC is closed source, so the only way is to write a new one from scratch (unless someone is willing to bang is head and patching hbc), but it would be useless because any homebrew using the wifi or the bluetooth would freeze the wii.
I'm not sure about other wiis, I've only got two of them.

There may be other homebrew launchers out there that we could look at using instead. I'd assume most people would only be interested in your basic set of emulators anyways.

Still each emulator must be modified...
As far as loaders go, there are plenty of them, but as far as i know, none of them doesn't use the wiimote.
I could write a simple one that uses only the gc controller. I might do it later :)

Assuming they make the check to begin with, yes. But has anyone tested that for sure? A simple launcher sounds neat, actually.

I made a simple homebrew to test it out and yes, it does work without the BT and the WiFi module as long as they are not used

Stacked all nice and everything. I have no idea if any of this wiring works yet.

Does the wifi module need some form of heat dissipation? It does have thermal paste in some consoles.

Have not been able to test that myself. I'd think probably not, however it's positioned like this so it's easier to add heatsinks and position a fan to be blowing on it.

Trimmed down the fan blades and everything. Will be testing it extensively tonight.

I don't use flux though
