Hi, I’m currently building my PS2 portable and I’ve run into a problem.

Actually, it’s been there for quite a while, but I didn’t really pay much attention to it and just kept working on the project.

The issue is that the video signal works, but the colors look washed out — everything has a grayish tint. The colors are there, but they look very faded.

I tried different cables and TVs, but the problem is still the same.

Right now I’m using the AV composite output, but I think I had the same issue with YPbPr as well.

I also tried changing the video settings, but it didn’t help.

If anyone could help me figure out what’s causing this, that would be awesome!

Do the colours appear washed out on the portable's own screen? I have read that because the PS2 outputs an interlaced signal, even with component cables, the colours can appear dull/washed depending on how new the TV is.

Hey! In the meantime, I tested YPbPr with a PS2-to-HDMI converter and noticed that there are interferences no matter the length of my signal wires and their shielding. I tried with different TVs and the result is always the same. As for the AV output (connected directly to my CRT TV), I get a kind of gray filter and everything looks washed out. I then tested with another PS2, and I don’t have any of these problems.
