Worklog Nold's First WiiP - The WiiD!

Just making it official now, it took me days to find a name for this project (Thanks @JacksonS for taking the name WiiSP, without even building a clam-shell )..

Planned Specs:
- Wii: LM420
- Controller: GC+ (Thanks @Aurelio & @BocuD )
- DS Slider, Speakers & Buttons
- Display: 5" 4:3 Composite
- Case: Fully custom 3D printed Clam-Shell
- Batteries: 3000 ~ 5000mAh
- Smartchargeboard
- ... a lot of other cool stuff i tend to forget about!

I don't have much to show right now, but this is the first "quick" sketch of the case..

ATM it's about 105x130mm (minimum for the planned display)
But as i can't test-print it yet, the design is likely to change a lot! I actually planing to rework it completely to give it some more rounding & stuff.

I don't even have a wii for it now, but I just felt like starting a new worklog anyways

Uhh.. that's the essence, yea! Well, I've found some pretty decent hinges, originally for an Asus eee pc:

Think they'll do the job. Don't know how to design around them exactly yet, but we'll see

Don't know if it will be the one for this project, since i might cut it a little bigger - lol...

It actually came with a pretty nice game in it's dvd-drive!

Besides, this was my first NAND-bend, that didn't work on the first try ;-) A really frustrating experience
Removed it completely & soldered it back in - now it's working..

The more interesting part about this board of cause is the AVE relocation, that i already did on the omega. I cut the pcb a little smaller this time. Btw. this are 16 data wires plus: gnd, 1.8v, 3.3v, composite & 2x audio.

This relocation took me about 4 hours (without unsoldering & trimming the AVE-PCB), but luckily it was working right away

Played some "Madworld" to check if AV-Chip is working .. Black, white & red colors are definitely fine! lol

Let's just hope everything survives trimming >.<

not really.. i basically just made it worse removed the whole nand again, rewired it - but it's not working ATM... Oh.. And a day after removing the nand out of all the epoxy, i found out that the NAND was working fine in the first place... it was just a faulty/cheap usb-stick - RIP

But I learned a lot through the omega & all the LMAOs i did, everything looks much better now

The cabinet is made by my father, the Subwoofer (10" Transmission-line that goes all the way doooown to 20Hz ) is build in combination with him.

My front boxes (not in picture) are also self-build - I love Music & this soundsystem supplies the Reggae/Dub-Vibes I need for this project ;-)

Yea, I can only recommend it! It's the best bass I've ever heard in Hifi! Screw this little bass-relex shit.
A TML plays so clean and soft even on low volumes & easily kicks your ass, if you want too (or you feed it with a DTS line)

Honestly 2018 is already a good year! Some of the most clean stuff I've seen come from talented individuals thus far! I will be watching for updates. Great progress so far.
