Need help starting out.

I am new to building portables and would like all the help I could get before even thinking about doing any build. What is a good first build? Also what things should i learn before starting that build?

Atm the Ashida and the G-Wii are the most forgiving builds for newcomers. They have convenient screw mounting points for everything and plenty of extra space inside to make wiring a bit easier. Both cases can be printed by online 3D printing services if you don't have a capable printer at home, or you could commision someone here to print it for you.
