Hello there, I have a few questions about custom regulators:

1: How do I find out which resistors to wire to the regulators?

2: How does the voltage get "bumped up" from the 3.7v of the batteries to 5v for USB?

3: Where can I find Gerber files/footprints of regulators if I wanted to make my own pcb for power management?

4: What else would I need to consider for making my own pms-pcb?
Please tell me if this is the wrong place to post this

1. it depends on the output voltage, check the data sheet of your regulator

2. inductors resist change in current by increasing the energy stored in the inductor’s magnetic field(i won’t lie i got this on google)

3. footprints are automatically downloaded in popular cad programs but check out octopart.com. also, manufacturers or distributors often link cad files of the product or ic on their respective webpages

4. it’s worth learning your way around a specific cad design software, kicad is generally accepted as the best software. also, create a schematic before you design a board

Thanks for the answer, but I forgot to add one question:
On the pcbs of for example the rvl-pms, there were multiple electronic chips of some sort, what do they do?

i believe there’s
3 buck converters and 1 boost converter
pic 16
battery management ic(i think)
and there’s some inductors that look like ic’s

there might be some other stuff but just check out the bom and schematics, they’re public
