i have a RVL-CPU-40 wii that i will be using, should i load up PortablizeMii or BBLoader before teardown?

but which one is better to load? or does it matter as in can change from them back and forth as needed?

You can change from one to the other fairly easily, BBloader is better, but it's still under development as of now.

im trying to setup BBLoader and asked me for a USB... i pull out my kingston micro sd reader and put in my new samsung 128gb microsd card... the kingston reader only shows 23.75GB available on my computer. i put the sd into a different reader and it shows all 128GB. is there a limit to the kingston reader or did i get a faulty one?

Anything that is greater then 32GB doesn’t read right... 32GB does fine, but if I put BBLoader on the 128 or 64GB BBLoader just sits at the loading screen, more then 6 hours. I use any of the other readers I have and it boots up fine.

yes i did, it works great with other readers or smaller cards... loaded a few GC games

not sure about this, but my readers came with 8GB cards and is a class 4(amazon link). imprinted on back is 31123-003 so i think i have a older/crappy one. i see the ones that come with 32GB cards with class 10 are 31123-004 and are about 5 years newer...(amazon link)

Are you sure that you have formatted the card as fat32, 32k sectors? Cards 64GB or larger by default come formatted as exFAT which is not compatible with either bbLoader or portabilizeMii. Use guiformat to format it to 32k sectors (insert data will be lost warning here, pull everything off the drive).

Brand new? Has never been touched by a pi image flasher, dd, win32disk imager, balena etcher, or the like? If you're running Windows post a screenshot of disk management with the drive in your PC. On the graph part please have the drive visible like the example I've provided - if only because it's easier to read.
You can easily get to disk management from the WIN+X shortcut.

now that my bbstore order shipped, i need to get this microsd card reader solved... i have 3 that don't work. is there a good source for one or does anyone have a spare they can ship me, ill pay shipping and for the card reader... unless someone can help me solve my issue with mine. ill even ship one to someone on the bbloader team to see if they can get it to work. it worked on the wii to begin with, but i threw on some games and it no longer loads with the reader. but does fine with my other readers...

Out of curiousity, does the drive show up properly in a different machine or operating system? @GingerOfOz had the same issue last week or so and it just seems weird.

2 windows 7 (1 desktop and one laptop) and 3 windows 10 (2 microsoft surface, 1 desktop) machines... all show up the same

Yep, I've got the same issue. Try modding your Wii with a different drove and try the Kingston adapter on the Wii. Mine still work with the Wii, but not much what for whatever reason

i have 2 wiis with bbloader on them. both freeze on loading with games on them... but i reduce the amount of games to under 32GB (~28GB) and then it loads and i can play games... i can play games when it is fully loaded with a different reader tho

That's basically the exact issue I've been having. Mine don't seem to act up at a certain storage mark, but I'll see if that storage spot is a consistent barrier for me as well.

what is the number on the back of your reader? mine are all 31123-003. i am wondering if it is an issue with this model number... i know they have 31123-004 out there as well

I've ordered another of these adapter and a bigger microsd card to try to fix this issue
