BitBuilt Welcome Thread!

Hi. I just discovered this forum when my 10-year old asked me to work with him on a Wii portable. I look forward to learning from and sharing with you all.

Hey all! Brand spanking new to the scene but been interested a long time and finally ready to dip my toes in to the mystical world of modding, I look forward to making all your acquaintances, and becoming a part of this community!

P.S. Would anyone happen to be able to please point me in the direction of some generally approved beginner projects for those with no experience whatsoever? Potentially something with heavy instruction, would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hey, warm welcome to the community! Great to have you here.
If your " Brand spanking new " and an absolute beginner here I recommend giving these a good read

Or just try to read as much worklogs and as much guides as you can, as research is the most useful tool you have.
So utilize it, and to its fullest.
Will do, thanks v v much!

Hey hey! Been into hardware modding and electronics for several years, hoping to learn some things and also give back to this place in the form of a neat project or two. <3

Hey guys. My name is Jesse, although people online call me Flip. I've been interested in making portablized home consoles for about a decade now, but I never decided to take the plunge. Then I saw the Gboy kit and figured it would help me develop my soldering skills. After all, if I can build a portable Wii, I can definitely repair PS4 hdmi ports at work

Hi all, I'm Austin. I've been a lurker for about 6 months, reading and collecting parts for my first wii portable. I've done the U10 relocation, trim, and am currently trying to get the RVL PMS working.

Hi all,

I was looking at building/buying an emulation handheld. I came across the "Shank Mods" Youtube page, Gman and then BitBuilt. Why buy when you can mod? The more I read/watched, the more interested I became...and here I am. My main hobby over the last few years has been building, flying, crashing mini quads, time to try my hands at building something else I can use/have fun with.

Hi, I'm Trevor. Chrono Trigger fan :D but now I just wanna use my name instead...oh well, rookie issues. Shank has inspired me to dive in here. Hoping to learn from all of you. Cheers!

Um hi, I'm not very good at introductions.

I'd been eyeing the portable scene for a couple years and now I want to try some hardware mods for myself. I plan to study computer engineering once I go to college this fall, and thought there was no better time then now to properly start in the scene then now. I'm still new to a majority of stuff when it comes to modding, but I hope at some point I can learn and make my own portable.

I was hoping to start small with my old DS lite and am wondering what sort of beginner projects I could do with it.

Looks like I forgot to do this when I joined! I'm CrazyGadget, and I am an Electrical & Computer Engineering student. Ever since I was little, I dreamed of playing my Gamecube games on the go, and you guys made it a reality. While I have yet to make my own portable, I have been lurking on these forums for years, studying up on what it takes to make one, and I hope to become an active part of this community! Also: don't buy from PortaPackit lol.

Hiya! I’m jumping into the deep end so to speak as I’m joining to help my first portable build will be a G-boy, with any luck anyway, I’m readying up to hopefully start a lifetime hobby of portablizing and modding my old consoles!

Hey guys, been lurking on here for a while and I am more active in the Discord (username was FirmShark but updated to make it the same as here) than on the forum. Ordered my G-Boy in the middle of May so looking forward to getting it and building it up.

Plenty of experience tinkering with a soldering iron so mega excited to get a B-Boy built up. Had modded consoles for years, first console I modded was my OG Xbox, done the whole Xbox 360 DVD flash and RGH mods and most recently finished a Gameboy Zero. Always had Ninty consoles (GB, GBC, GBA & Switch) but never owned a Wii until recently as I had only ever played with them at a friends house. So far I have soft modded 3x Wiis and started preparing a Wii for my G-Boy. Already has PortabilizeMii installed and done the U10 relocation this morning for the first time which was successful and waiting for the kit to arrive before I start trimming and progressing more.

Anyways, hopefully get to know you guys more and looking forward to being involved!

Fraser

LordZOOKOR here. I'm hoping to learn a bit about modding in order to complete an N64 controller project that I've had in mind for a while.
