Hello! If you're new to the forum or the scene, come say hi here!
Hey guys new to the modding scene and wanted to reach out as a noob to say hi and get some tips on building my first wii portable.
Ello world! If you're new to the forum or the scene, come say hi here!
I’ve always been fascinated with portable consoles, though I can’t see myself ever investing the time and money to ever own one... So that makes me one of those strange ones that installed PortablizeMii on a very non-portable Wii. My Wii was hacked before, so now I’m working on getting my channels and saves transferred over.Welcome! I'd say you should start with the Wii. I've built portables of both and the Wii is miles easier than anything before it. Plus, it's by far the most documented console the modding scene has ever had, so there's plenty of helpful tips/guides available on the forums!I’m new here! I’ve watched people create portables for years and it’s always interested me so much. After watching GingerOfMods create the Louii, I decided I wanted to make my own. I’m debating if I should start with an N64 or go straight to Wii/GC. I don’t know anything about electronic components or soldering or wiring, but that’s why I’m here, to learn!
That’s what I’ll start with then! Thank youWelcome! I'd say you should start with the Wii. I've built portables of both and the Wii is miles easier than anything before it. Plus, it's by far the most documented console the modding scene has ever had, so there's plenty of helpful tips/guides available on the forums!
been creeping for a while now here for my first sad attempt at a projectHello. I'm just someone that was looking to make a portable Wii. I have and intend to continue to look through guides and worklogs in order to gain a better understanding. Though there is an extensive amount of resources available, it definitely takes some looking into. For example, information on rewiring motherboard components after trimming is especially scarce. The Wii trimming guide offers some advice, but there is still a lot left for interpretation. Usually when a question about how to wire certain parts is asked, higher members of the forums just bark at people telling them to look at worklogs. What worklogs, exactly? Who cares, I guess. I'm all for doing research and committing fully to something, but I do think that this community is generally overhyped as a loving, welcoming group of enthusiasts. Additionally, there is no reason why a start to finish guide on how to portablize a console has not been made, especially when higher-ups makes it seem so easy and assumes that everyone has the knowledge that they have.
