Money Planning a budget for new molding hobby

Alright. So I want to start a hobby in converting retro consoles into little portables, but I would need to get an idea on savings to start my first project.

I have some problems to fix before I can start. My computer desperately needs to go under the knife as there's many problems I need to fix. I'm also trying to save up for a Switch.

The process to put my computer under the knife will probably be around $500 once done.

My switch savings goal is $1000.

After paying all monthly nessisaries, I'm left with around $250 monthly.

How much should I save to start my first project?

That largely depends on what tools you already have, and what you want from your projects. Do you have any ideas as to what you'd want to make? Once you know that you can start with the things that wouldn't cost you money, such as drawing out designs or some 3d modeling (if you plan to design and 3d print a case)

I plan to create something can has built in Wii motion capabilities as well.

I can start off with drawing my ideas.
