What materials should I use for 3d printing from them both in terms of durability and cost, and is injection molding worth the extra cost?

PLA filament is totally fine for portable cases and is the easiest to work with. PETG can be better depending on if you need supports and how thin some bits get, but really any plastic will do. Just be wary of resin printed cases. While they look slick, resin is very brittle and will chip, crack, crush, and snap off if dropped or placed under too much tension.
