working on No.1
hello, as you can probably tell I am a big fan of the GameCube and its games. I came here after watching a bunch of YouTube vids on the subject until the urge to build my own became too much. I am currently working on an Ashida.

Hi,
I absolutely love breathing new life into retro/older consoles. Hoping to get someone to build two PS360 controllers to add to my growing controller collection, so joined up and will be taking a look around. Thanks for having me.

I stumbled across this place in my newest hyperfixation. I tend to prefer to lurk and watch everyone else in amazement, but everything's so cool here I may just get my hands dirty this time 'round!

Hello,

New to the modding scene but dabbled with electronics and micro controllers on and off for a while.

Desperately trying to get bits sorted for a Wii portable, have been lurking and doing plenty of reading whilst I wait.

Can't wait to get started but also full of trepidation lol.

Thanks in advance :D

Hi,

I got into retro modding a few years back and it's turning out to be a great journey. I started initially repairing Gameboy Color and DS Lite consoles and slowly moved onto 3DS ( all versions), DSI, PSP, PS Vita, Switch etc. I love handheld consoles but now I am attempting an Ultra Slim PS2 and that is how I came across bitbuild. Thanks!

Hi all!

Stoked to finally join the forum. Lurked for a while and started collecting bits for a Wii portable back in 2020, then got quite sidetracked with building and modding 3D printers.. Now having more than enough working printers (and a few still to be built/fixed) I have decided to actually complete some of the projects I've had lying around for too long, including this Wii portable.

Wow has the scene come a long way in just a few years, and I'm excited to jump in!

Yoyoyo, hey everyone! Just decided I'm interested in building my own portable Wii and doing some reading on the Ashida design. Super excited to get started!

I guess the first step is buying a 4-layer Wii....

Hey everyone, I got a resin printer last year and am excited to learn more about the 3D scan and scan cleanup process. And of course printing some highly accurate parts to go with my collection of 70+ systems spanning 30+ different platforms, most of which are Nintendo systems.

Hello, peoples!

I've been lurking on this forum for a while, but I never registered until now. For almost ten years, I've been modding and fixing systems, as well as dabbling into vintage computer hardware.

Thank you for welcoming me.

Hi there!
New to this space, interested in fixing and modding 8-bit Commodore computers and SEGA Dreamcasts. I went down this thread after finding in the garage my “original” C128 and Dreamcast, thinking to myself… what if….? Here I am.

Sup fellas

Finally decided to join the discussions on here. Ginger brought me here with his Ashida building video (and subsequently, the Wii trimming guide). I'm currently in the midst of tackling an Ashida build on my own, but I'm trying to plan out as much stuff as I can before I start ordering parts.

Honestly, I have a question that I'd like to post as a new thread, but if anybody here knows the answer - AFAIK, RVLoader doesn't work from an SD Card, but the PMS PD 3 board only supports a micro SD card. It does mention that the SD card then shows up as a USB drive on your PC if you connect the USB-C cable, so I'm wondering if it's the same with the Wii. I'm assuming that, since it only has two data lines (+ and -) that the data is sent to the Wii as a USB as well, and I just wanted to double check that 1) that's the case, and 2) that RVLoader will work when run that way. Otherwise, it would seem to make more sense just buying the PMS PD 2 instead.

Thank you in advance!
I'm a complete noob so take what I'm saying with a thousand grains of salt, but...

I think the issue is that RVLoader won't work from the Wii's SD Card slot. But if you take an SD card, mount it to a reader, and connect that reader to a USB port, it works fine. So it's not the SD card, it's the hardware/connection.

It's my assumption that that's exactly what the PMS PD is. It's got a slot for an SD but it connects over the USB bus. And so you're good to go.

I found a C64 on Facebook marketplace and did some work restoring it. I built a Pi1541+Fastload cartridge. It was a really fun project. Go check that out.

One of the coolest parts was building an eeprom programer with an Arduino and a breadboard and then writing software to send bits over the serial bus to write to the chip. It was fun.

I also discovered Ben Eater through that project and his breadboard computer. That's a project I need to get to. But building an Ashida has stolen my attention (and cash).

I have registered here since passively reading no longer gives me enough information for my project.
