I have a few questions.
Is there a rough cost for building an ashida?
Do you need a 3D printer? (I don't have one)
Whats something simpler to start with thats afforadable as well?
Are Custom Wii Remote and Gamecube Controller's a thing on this fourm, or is it just the consoles themselves?
Can you connect a sensor bar to an ashida? Or would that require a custom build of it, and if so, how hard would that be to add?
My idea is to either a, hard wire a sensor bar to the top of the console or b, allow you to connect a sensor bar into it.

1.For building an ashida, you can actually ask @cy who is doing commissions for 3d cases or you can just put the files on pcbway or jlcpcb.
2.The ashida and the Xii boy ultra are (I think)the easiest portables to build when you begin.
3.I didn't really listen to the controller, but I think it's the controller only.
4.For the ashida, you can try to pit 2 IR LEDs in the front panel or just build a Xissbar from @Xenii.
5.Well,the sensor bar just got ir LEDs inside of it, so if you put ir LEDs in front of your console and power them,it will works the same.
Hope it helps you :)

Edit:if you really want an "easy " portable to done, you can just for the n64 kit of @Downing which will be available on 4layer

helps a lot! i defientelly want to try to make maybe a custom wii mote case first! Mainly bc it would be cheaper and help me get into the whole thing. And yeah, i forgot the sensor bar is just ir sensors and the wiimote handles the signals.

I will love to see your custom wiimote case.Customs controllers are Always crazy!
By the way, this @Jimenick got a similar project.
