What's happening forum!

After breaking my Ashida I built last winter, I decided I needed a more, well... portable portable. As I started planning to build a Xii-boy Ultra, I realized I would have to wait until at least december (I still plan to do it, tho), and I had the itch. After talking to @Xenii about how he designed portables I decided to give it a shot myself. I only had to teach myself 3D CAD and PCB design.

I decided I was going to base my portable off the 3DS, so I took my caliper and started modeling away. My inital idea was to make it as thin as possible, I was going to make the wii and the pcb parallel.

I then started work on the face plate,

Circle pads fit!

anyways when I modeled the circle pad holders I realized that I didn't have to make the pcb

I started ordering parts and printing prototypes, and so far everythings going pretty great.

Ignore the wonky wii trim. I needed to make clearance for the circle pad holders, plus I thought it was fun.

Anyways I still need to model the screen part of the clamshell, and shoulder buttons, but anyways that's pretty much where I'm at now. I've started designing the PCB, but I'm far from ready to show that.

If anyone's has any advice, feedback, or questions I'd love to hear them. This is my first time designing a portable so this is very much a learning process
