What's up guys? I recently picked up a 4-layer Wii for $10, however it claimed to not have working video. I brought it home and ran some tests, and I can confirm that everything works normally except the video. It boots up and powers off as normal (evidenced by the power light and the fact that a Wii remote can be connected), but when hooking up a video cable, it outputs nether sound nor video. I attempted to grab a composite signal straight from the AVE-RVL, however that didn't work either. Is there anything else I can try or is this guy beyond repair?

No sound either would indicate that the AVE is probably damaged. Does the wiimote vibrate when you point it around at the invisible system menu channels?

I'll find out. Are there ways to salvage a broken AVE? Or could I replacing it with one from another Wii?

If it's specifically an issue with the AVE, then yeah the fix would be to replace it with a different one. All AVE revisions are pin compatible, but might be oriented differently. However, I'm not too sure if its an AVE issue from the lack of output alone. A green light alone doesn't provide much for troubleshooting. Have you opened it up?

Yeah, nothing looks out of place in terms of the board. One interesting thing is that I get no continuity from the composite pin on the AVE to the video out port. Is that normal?

There are several filtering capacitors between the AVE and the connector, so yeah you wouldn't read continuity.
