I've been researching for awhile now and soon (sometime in February) I will begin working on a portable Wii system (code name FPWII unless I think of any thing better the current plan is to fanken-case a remote from an old FPV (hence the name FPWII) the case is already designed to fit a 4.3" screen and two analog sticks (though I might not keep the current placement.

I want to have removable 18650's in a battery bay/holder (like what you find on any thing that uses regular batteries) so that I won't have mess around with charge circuits. So how does the plan (or lack thereof) sound so far?

Try using this for the image instead https://www.hubsanus.com/media/cata...eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/h/1/h107d-a05.jpg

Directly powering things from 18650 cells is dangerous since you can easily over-discharge them, so you'll still need a protection circuit inside. Most protection circuits won't output power if you disconnect and re-connect the cells until you try to charge them.

Is it possible to use a protection circuit harvested from a usb power bank? Or no because most of them out put 5v and not 7v?

It depends, some can't supply enough current, or have some downsides like slow charging. If you find one that can supply enough current, you can totally use it as long as you use the same voltage cells.

We generally don't use them because they are less efficient than our solutions, but there isn't anything preventing you from using them.

Do you have any recommendations??
