Here is my custom Raspberry Pi Portable, the PiPal!
This fun project was originally my project for the BitBuilt Summer Building Competition 2024. While I did end up running out of time in the end, I was able to finally put it together in time for MGC 2025!
If you want to see my worklog for the project: CLICK HERE!
This was my first time designing my own portable and it was an amazing learning experience for me, it was also my first time designing my own PCB!
All the buttons were resin printed with ELEGOO Grey Resin on my ELEGOO Mars 3 3D Printer.
It's core is a Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+ with a 14500 Li-Ion Battery, which gives it around 1 hour and 10 minutes of battery life give-or-take. The battery life isn't the best, but for how small it is, it's fine with me. I plan to have better battery life in my next portable, which is a custom Portable Wii!
Final Photos:
Priming, Filling, Sanding, and Painting:
Custom Controller PCB:
Power Switch & Speaker Area:
DC-Barrel Jack for Charging:
Internals:
Wiring of Controller Board:
Extra Photos and images can be found on my Worklog.
Thanks so much for all the support on this project especially from @cy, you rock dude! I'm looking forward to hanging out with you and others at MGC 2025!
