Im in the process of trying to get a USA patent for a tool I made for the underground construction industry.

What I’m struggling with is the price since they are expensive that’s why I’m making this post to see if anyone here has ever filed for one or has knowledge on getting one for cheap?

Any help/info is appreciated thanks in advance.

I'm listed as an inventor on a patent but it was filed and paid for a previous employer. My understanding it that in terms of up front costs paying someone to draft up / do the paperwork is the biggest cost.
It looks like there may be reduced costs if you manage to classify as a "small entity" or "micro entity", however that's defined (leaving as a task for readers), that might help out.

thanks! I did see the pricing to file myself but the risk is big if I mess something up, the quote I got from the lawyer was $7500 that covers the whole thing.

The only reason I wanted to do the provisional application and patent search was to see if there was anything else like this out there.
