Question No Signal Composite Out

I have trimmed 2 wii's now, both getting the same issue with no composite out.

The Wii is getting power since the chips heat up when I hit the power button but nothing from the video signal.

I did choose the VGA option when installing RVLoader. Does that mean composite doesn't output anymore?


The resistances look good from what I can tell comparing them to others here on the forum.

What is your battery voltage? And what voltages are you getting when you turn on the PMS?

Cleaned up the flux.

I'm not sure if I am testing the battery voltage correctly. What setting should I set my multimeter to for testing that?

When powering on the PMS I get a 1 for the resistances. Is testing the voltages different than the resistance? I have my multimeter set to 20k ohms for the resistances.

Okay, I think I figured out the voltages with my multimeter. I set the multimeter to VDC 20 on my dial.

Battery voltage: 3.8v

Update: I am now getting a signal but it is a black screen. No text or loader showing but it's at least getting a signal now. I changed the ground wire on the composite out to the adapter and that did it.

I'm wondering if my U10 is now in question. If I use the emulation from the PMS lite I don't need to do any of the relocation right?

That could be U10. Correct, you don't need to relocate the U10 if you use the U10 emulation from the PMS. Just to double check, you installed RVLoader and patched out wifi prior to trimming, correct?

Yes, I patched out wifi and enabled VGA

Good and Bad updates.

Good: The composite signal finally worked and showed RVLoader!!!

Bad: Suddenly now when I connect the 3.3v to the PMS-Lite it gets no power.

If I disconnect the 3.3v and then test the voltages on the PMS-Lite they are good and all show the correct values.

The 3.3v resistance is okay getting around 6.74k Ohms.

I've rewired everything 3 times now on both the Wii and PMS-Lite.

The battery voltage is 4.12v.

I'm not sure what is going on with the 3.3v line.

The PMS powers fine when it isn't connected but the moment I connect 3.3v to the PMS it powers off and stops supplying to any of the regulators.

I took everything off and sanded the board a bit more but that didn't help anything.

I am looking for shorts anywhere but I am getting good resistances on all lines.

I figured out the issue!

I was not supplying enough AMPs with only one battery.

I attached a second battery and BOOM! Boots every time now.

Excuse the battery casing it started to rip after removing it so many times.

Nice! I do think having a spare RVL-PSU for troubleshooting stuff like this is pretty handy.
