Going to test this guy soon. I saw someone asking about custom MX PCBs a while back. Removed from a board and hand soldered it.

Does this board support a CMOS battery for proper RTC?

Nvm I just zoomed to read the silk and I see the battery terminal labelled

Pretty nice if it is smaller than original, and it is also a lot more clean !
With the battery on the back, it can simplify a lot the connection process

I'll work on mounting and testing it soon. I'm on call so things are crazy till after work on Friday

Edit: I'm also just starting to work on the possibility of 3D printing a mini gamecube with all custom PCBs(aside form the usual Wii trim). I would want to do all board to board mounts to make it really clean but we'll see if it's just a pipe dream. I have my controller port holder being printed right now and I have 4 ports on order from Ebay to mount on a custom PCB I have yet to design. I'd think the timeline would be like 3 months or so for that sort of thing.

This is awesome! I just ordered a PCB to do this myself.

One question I have is how far apart are the battery terminals on the back? So I can find a battery holder that works

Hello, is it possible to run it without the battery? Or is it essential?
My guess is you can’t run it without batteries. It will work, but as soon as you turn the portable off, it will loose the current time.

You can either plug a 3V battery, or use the LiPo cells of your portable which seems to work as well :D

I'm not really interested in saving time, just making games that require the MX chip compatible. I'm trying to simplify the design for a custom PCB.
