Question MX Chip

Can you remove the mx chip completely and solder to its pins or do you have to leave the surrounding components within the red box for it to function correctly?

(as seen on the trim guide)

You need to leave the components inside the red box, as they are required for the MX to function properly. If you really want to remove it from the board and re-wire it (which is much more difficult than just fitting that little snippit of the board into your case), you only need the X2, C101, and C102 and just re-wire those like on the board.
