BitBuilt Welcome Thread!

Hey all! Im Seth, and I am just getting back into the modding scene. I started by modding my OG xbox for the Halo 2 release (back when Cold Cathodes were the only lighting option), I also used to make N64 Portables about 10 years ago, back on the Bacteria forums, (thanks Downing) but fell out of it for a bit, got a real software engineer job, etc. but NOW im finding all the amazing things the Wii turned out to be capable of, and down the rabbit hole i fell again, as im sure you can all relate. im stoked to be back in this game. check me on discord and such or @LevelUpYourFandom which is my maker insta and (lacking) youtube channel

Welcome back to the scene. Any pictures left of your old N64 portables?

Any pictures left of your old N64 portables?

unfortunately i only have a few pics of the 'in progress' stages of one of the ones i made back in 2012, i will see if i can find any of them in boxes in storage though.
this particular build used a sacrificial 3rd party gamecube controller, xbox 360 sticks, ps1 screen, and a weird case i cant recall the name of, ABS glued together and painted. i relocated the cart slot on the back so it worked like a gameboy cartridge. had 2x 18650s for power. this thing was an absolute mess, but i remember being so proud of it. lol i GOTTA find this thing

as you can see, this was about 50% through the build. i had already relocated the cart slot and built/tested the controls. i was mid-assembly of the case here

Hello! I've been reading up on a lot of stuff here, hoping to start my first portable soon. From what I've seen, I'm excited to be a part of this community!

Hi all! My name is Caleb and I'm excited to try to do a Wii Portable. Any videos or guides to help me would be appreciated! Trying to figure out the trimming and type of board I have now :).

Hello! This is my first post on the forum. I used to be interested in this scene 5 or so years ago. Unfortunately, I was 14, couldn't make money, and was abnormally immature. I've probably left a bad taste to many people back then. I left the scene finding a new hobbies that was appropriate for my age. I look at my old emails and suddenly remembered this scene. Compared to before, I didn't really have drawbacks. I was old enough to join the labor force, I could actually drive a car and I've grown up. My goal is to, besides from building a portable, is to learn about electronics, 3d printing and PCB design.

Howdy everyone, been interested in the mod scene for a few years. I've done some console mods such as ultra 64 hdmi, gc_loader, gamecube digital out mod, gba consolizer, etc. I have been trying to expand my knowledge and skills and have been slowly acclimating myself to the complexities of doing a portable wii/gamecube. Luckily gmanmodz just announced the pre-order kit and I have been doing a ton of research to prepare myself for this difficult task!

Hello world. I'm a long time pc enthusiast and console software modder looking to get into some portabilzation. I've got alot of n64 stuff and some wii stuff sitting around and a hakko solder station, but not much experience with it.

What something I could try with a n64 controller just to learn removing and attaching a little nettle before I start hacking at a console?

Hello! I've been on Bitbuilt a lot recently, and finally decided to make an account. I have been interesting in Wii portablizing but I probably don't have the budget for it.

Hello all,

I have been reading up on all the various threads about portabilizing all my old, favorite consoles and decided I am ready to take this one. I have quite a bit of hardware/software experience from my degree, so I am excited to start. Just got my Wii in today to start chopping up!

Hello everyone! I am new here!

I am very new to this kind of stuff, recently I have been modding my Wii (I know, I took the initiative 10 years late, but there wasn't a quarantine until now :XD:). After discovering this world, I realized what I have been missing this whole time, so now I am catching up. I don't have experience with building consoles, nor with programming, but I am enthusiastic about technology, games and computer related stuff. I am familiarized with Emulators, 3D modeling with BIM and I have explored Unity3D.

Searching for a way to emulate a Wiimote with a Gamecube Controller, I got to Bit Built. Since I believe I will have many questions in the future about it and other things, I decided to sign up and make an account.

I thought id say hello. long time lurker first time poster. Wanted to post in the Sony thread on my first PS2 portable I'm starting but i cant seem to make posts anywhere for some reason
