Ashida Wii Portable

Another question, I was planning to print the case for the ashida on my ender 3, but just realised that the print would not fit. Is it still possible to just rotate the print in the slicer without causjng any problems?

Yes, I printed mine on my Ender 3. YMMV in regards to orientation. The default orientation is the recommended one. I printed mine on that orientation to give the screw posts more rigidity and it worked, but obviously the top of the case suffered in terms of visual quality. It's a pick your poison situation lol

EDIT: thread

Does it work well with wii games?
I think you might mean like how does it translate with out the motion control? Well it is fiddly sometimes and depends on game to game. the in SMG2 yoshi sections with wiimote emulation are super annoying or any of that star gravity pointer finger stuff... Did not love that compared to the original... but if control scheme is easy to transfer over you can assign waggles to buttons on the gamecube layout... But technically, the trimmed modded wii will run all wii games 100% afaik

I meant like with the game cube controls to play wii games I should have said that. :\

No worries! Yeah, SparkleBear is right. It really depends on the game. The most common way that the pointer is emulated is through the GameCube Controller’s C-Stick. It’s really intuitive honestly, just move it around to move the pointer around (there is a slight area it doesn’t reach on the top and bottom of the screen, but for games like Galaxy it is fine). A best case scenario is Super Paper Mario, where you only have to use the pointer occasionally and in low intensity situations, like having Tippi check hidden doors for you. Most Wii games that don’t rely on the pointer are amazing with the GameCube controller. New Super Mario Bros is great with controller flick on X/Y, and many games like Mario Kart Wii and Sonic Colors work natively with a GCC anyway. I’d say controller convenience isn’t a super big deal on Wii portables all things considered.

ah yeah, like it's already been said, YMMV... however if you do bluetooth relocation, you could use an actual wiimote so I suppose that would make every game playable... although while technically possible, i'd imagine playing something like Wiisports with a tiny screen far away wouldn't be the ideal experience lol...

I can confirm Wii Sports is not great on a portable screen.

Although watching someone else try to play tennis is very amusing

This is my first portable so I'm not sure how to do that also would I need to drill holes for the ir sensors?

If you do want an IR sensor in the Ashida then you should probably sand the domes off at these locations, then put the IR lights in those spots. Here's an image (and video) of what that would look like, though it's not mine.

It's not very practical though, as the screen is so small, it would be very tricky to play. At that point, I would just have a portable for on the go, and an at home Wii for playing games like Wii Sports.

I know it wont be very practical but its more that I have the option of using A wiimote.

Also if anyone has the files for the 3d printing please share because I cant download them from google drive.

They're not "sensors" they're IR leds. The "sensors" are actually on the wiimotes themselves. You can put them on the console as shown above or maybe design a stand or something to prop up the console and put the LEDs there... They don't need to be connected to the wii motherboard.

Strange that you can't download them. What website can you download from? I can't post them here as the files are too large for bitbuilt.

They're right, the download isn't working at the moment:

All are working for me for some reason. It could have to do with location, maybe each is restricted to how many things can be downloaded from a certain area?
