Has anyone made a ps3 portable yet? I like it’s library of games like portal , crash bandicoot and stuff. I know about ps1 and 2 portables but just wondering.

Anything beyond the ps2 era consumes too much power and generates too much heat to make a practical portable.

I was really excited about making a ps3 portable even if it had no batteries. But never got to it I would go with ps4 portable since motherboard is way smaller.

The problem is that the ps4 isn’t backwards compatible with some of the ps3 games I want to play

Yea that’s true I believe a ps3 portable is possible and I might eventually try to build one.

Unless you want to hook the thing up to a kWh battery system, any "portable" PS3 is going to be completely reliant on wall power to run. It is indeed possible, but it'll be expensive, bulky, and you'll be flying by the seat of your pants if anything goes wrong

I already have a question. What soldering machine and deemed do you recommend?

I agree with you, it could be less bulky by getting rid of disc drive

well, if you have got the experience you could make a custom pcb for the ps3, from what i know of its pretty easy to find the schematics for the ps3....

i found a pdf for what i think is the entire schematics for the ps3, i dont know which motherboard revision it is but i hope it will in some way or another.
but it says reproduction prohibited so im unsure about, i think its only if you're going to sell it after tho....

Admin edit: we can't link/host these files on the forums, as we would like to stay away from extreme legal troubles

for Admin, the pdf shouldnt cause any legal troubles, beacuse its just the service manual. its only if you are going to copy the design and resell it. But i understand the concern
