The summer of '26 has came and gone along with this year's competition. We returned to a slightly shorter submission window versus last year to encourage people to be more reasonable with their projects. Despite this, we still had 7 submissions marked as completed this year with lots of ambitious projects done by people not afraid to delve into unexplored waters. Not only did people dare to challenge themselves but we saw significant new developments on many fronts. More projects aiming to be the smallest or perhaps stride for a larger footprint, impressive transplants of chips, portables of less common systems, and modern takes of projects from members of old.

As mentioned last year, part of why we continue to hold the summer competition is to see members push the envelope of what's possible and we continue to be impressed time after time again. Thanks for participating whether that be entering, finishing a project, or even "just" voting.

Any projects threads for the 2026 summer contest will be moved to the appropriate subforum in the coming weeks. Users that finished a project are encouraged to make an additional thread in The Cutting Edge to show off their projects.
