Question My Ashida OMGWTF Trim Won't Boot

Unfortunately that's to be expected. It's very easy to kill components, it's basically a rite of passage around here for broken stuff to double a project's budget. It ain't a cheap hobby, especially if your tools are subpar.

Question My Ashida OMGWTF Trim Won't Boot

That's unfortunate. Try removing the cells for a minute and putting them back in to force a full saturation reset. If that doesn't restore the outputs to normal, then yeah it has probably fried. If the voltage and logic lines mix, components die. Loss of components always happens in the...

Question Wii USB not working no matter what

The Wii side looks clean, no visual issues that I can spot. How long is the twisted pair? Can you show a photo of the PD module?

Question My Ashida OMGWTF Trim Won't Boot

The 3.3v wire has a stray strand that might be fucking with nearby components, and the 1.8v wire looks awfully close to the neighbouring GND wire. I don't see any obvious shorts or missing components, so I say desolder all the wires except for the power button and battery inputs, and then...

Question My Ashida OMGWTF Trim Won't Boot

This is with the Wii disconnected from the PMS, yes? Can you provide a clear photo of the current state of the PMS so I can eyeball it for potential shorts?

Question My Ashida OMGWTF Trim Won't Boot

Black probe on GND, red probe on the voltage output pad. The positions on a multimeter dial refer to (partly) the maximum displayable reading value for the display. It only has so many characters to use, so they break up the reading brackets. Some of the voltages on the PMS are above 2v, but...

Question Designing my own Wii Portable

Yeah the PMS and PD series boards from 4layertech are a complete voltage regulation, battery management and charging solution. Just add cells. The PMS only supports a 1S cell arrangement, so 4 cells in parallel is correct. If you connect any in series to raise the voltage, you'll kill the PMS...

Question My Ashida OMGWTF Trim Won't Boot

The little dot on the Wii. That big old blob is probably touching another pad, and even if it isn't it will eventually rip the U10 via out of the board. There's too much plastic jacketing removed. For safety, however long/deep the pad that you're soldering to is, is how much metal you should be...

Question My Ashida OMGWTF Trim Won't Boot

It's impossible to diagnose the problem with your wiring the way it is. You have too much exposed wire with stray strands pointing out all which ways that could have caused a death short, and your U10 via joint is a boulder that is probably touching other vias. You need to disconnect the cells...

    Question Fabrication PMS

Also worth keepig in mind that the PD-2/PD-3 modules from 4layertech do not work with the old v1 PMS boards. If you're going to use the old PMS, you'll have to use a 9v or 12v DC barrel jack power supply to charge it.

Do I have to relocate the NAND, or is my Wii completely dead?

Reconnecting them will be very fiddly. You'll want a magnifier, a fine chisel tip, liberal usage of flux, and a lot of patience.

Do I have to relocate the NAND, or is my Wii completely dead?

You have indeed severed some of the NAND traces. You can make it work again if you use some magnet wire to reconnect the flash chip legs to the vias for the severed traces. Pinout here for your reference
