Hey all,

So I am making this worklog to log my progress on my first ever Wii portable, which will be a G-Wii. I have been wanting to build a portable for years but was always daunted by the task, until now. For my first portable, I wanted to build a purple "GameCube themed" G-Wii, as I always thought the GameCube's aesthetic was unique and lovely.

The 3d printed case shown in these images was commissioned from @cy's 3d printing service, which you can find right here. I absolutely love the way the print turned out. I asked for a GameCube logo in the back of the case, and I am extremely satisfied with the way it turned out in the end. For the screen and analog gates Cy was kind enough to print both grey and purple to allow me to decide when I got my hands on the shell (I am still deciding lol). Cy was extremely kind and patient with me through the whole process of making the shell, and I would absolutely recommend his service to anybody looking for a high-quality shell for their project. Thanks, Cy!

As of right now I only have my hands on the shell (and other 3d printed parts) as well as various other miscellaneous parts such as cooling parts, switches, speakers, and more. The other parts, such as the 4-layer tech boards, the Wii, and other parts, are still being shipped out to me, and tracking says they might take a little while to get to me, which gives me some time to research and plan. I am very excited to get to building this thing, especially with how the shell turned out. I will probably update this worklog once I receive the remaining parts.

Thanks a lot for the kind words! I'm a huge fan of the GameCube vibe too, and I would also be on the fence about the color for the bezel and joystick nubs. The shell was a joy to put together, and I'm glad you're happy with the shell!

Best of luck to you with this build, and as always, if you have any questions, my DMs (and the BitBuilt Discord) are always open. :)

Hey again,

Just wanted to make the update that I have recently received all the parts and tools that (as far as I know) need for the portable. Around a few weeks ago I ordered a Wii family edition that said it had a broken disc drive but upon receiving it and hooking it up it did not boot, I tried a bunch of things but I ultimately decided to order another Wii (Which I also recently received) and use the faulty one to practice soldering.

Today I started soft modding the Wii but then realized I apparently needed to have a USB to micro-sd to install rvloader in the Wii but I don't fully know so I plan to continue tomorrow. I plan to post more updates soon.

To install RVloader you can also just use an USB Stick and once finished, transfer alls the files back to the micro SD card you are planning to use.
