I don't really know what to call this thing but I've put enough effort into it I should probably make a work log for it.
First the inspiration:
- surprisingly not surprisingly, I like a lot of Wesk's builds like the aran and the ashida. So when designing my own portable I wanted to do something along those lines.
- I also really like the feel of the wii classic controller, even if it has kinda goofy z buttons. So keeping along the lines of digital frankencasing I gave a nice little donation to Wesk's 3D scan pool to get the classic and classic pro controllers scanned.
The crushing realization:
- there are two main downfalls when it comes to portablizing for me and that is my lack of patience, and my lack of skill.
- I quickly realized that mesh editing. Especially on fusion is not for the faint of heart. And it is going to take a hot minute before my skills are matured enough to be able to take on a "ashida advance" kind of portable.
The rise: here's where the fun part begins
- so I decided to make a simpler design as my first portable (while still wanting the triggers of the classic controller). Since I wanted it to be smaller first I would have to get acquainted with nand and ave relocations. My first relocation went alright but troubleshooting it proved to be an issue. I actually had a manufacture flaw with both of my ave flexes that I didn't catch until I was on MK2. I decided to do more of an lmao type trim for MK2 so that I wouldn't have to relocate the 3v3 cap. I also made sure to relocate the nand and AVE before trimming so they are not likely to be an issue going forward. Now it was just on to the case design.
- I don't have much in terms of a case right now. Mostly I know I bought enough for two ashidas so my plan is to use the other two batteries for that guy. And will probably fit them into the handles like a lot of other builds do. But that about sums up Thoms R&D so far.
