They are definitely not the best, but they were very cost effective and reliable enough. they are a lot shorter than the wah regs too so it made it easier to fit in the space i had allocated.
The resistor sets the voltage of the regulator, and the diode was already present on the board (maybe to help with reverse voltage?) but i had to relocate it to make room for the hole i drilled through the board to secure it with a screw to the heatsink. last time i tried epoxying the regulator and it didn't work too well
