Hey everyone! The past few days I've been messing around with multicolor printing on my new P2S + AMS2pro combo. I traced the outline of one of the zero suit samus character models and added some extra details to make the 2D version pop a lil more - split it into 3 parts by color, and merged them all back together onto the G-Wii shell. Also did the same with the metroid logo on the fan vent.

The image below is still on the print bed (will be printing for the next like 3.5 hours) so the graphics are flipped the wrong way around in this photo (internal view) and the wavy bits are just the infill, but will be updating worklog w/ more photos of the actual back of it once it's off the bed!

I've also designed / re-designed a bunch of extra retrofitted parts for the G-Wii to allow for way less hot-gluing / button modding, etc. so I'm super excited to share all of that with everyone too! :)

Planning on making a final overview / build video on my youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@Kowabungus) as well once the project is finished, stay tuned!

Off the printer now, looking pretty sick!

It's printed w/ protopasta "erratic indigo" multicolor HTPLA (for higher temp resistance), along with some glitter colors from their lineup. The gradient came out pretty sweeet! Also did a ring of the teal color around the edge of the case to conserve a little on purple bc I'm running a bit low rn lol (but also thought it'd just look cool, and it does indeed)

Thinking of going a more Ridley route for the top half of the case w/ a purple+orange theme :rothink:

I love that purple, that would look so good with an orange Ridley themed front, Good luck on the build!

Such a clean print! The back of the G-Wii is such a blank canvas for custom art like this! I especially love the details in the fan intake! The edges of the shell also look great too, are they part of the filament you're printing with? Or was that detail you added?

Either way, this is a beautiful shell so far! I can't wait to see the front!
Oh wow, your build looks so sick!!!
And thank you! :) also yeah for the edges I just sliced that part off as a separate object in software and then merged it back on set to print with the different filament color. There's probably an easier way to do all of that, but I literally bought my 3d printer like a week and a half ago so still trying to figure out all the tricks lolll

Edit: I just realized maybe you meant the gradient rather than the teal strip, if so then yeah that's part of the filament I was using! haha

I was going to take a break for a couple days, but I'm really bad at taking breaks and I ended up making the top shell!
For the top, I used @Wesk 's G-Wii v2 Remix files as well as the octagonal joystick pieces made by @Y2K farther down in that thread.

I'm sure after taking a gander at the image above you've noticed something odd
(or if you didn't - the A button looks a little funny, and the power LED indicator hole is missing)
I have a plan for both of those things........

I also started printing out and assembling some of the extra parts. At the bottom, we've got some pieces of my own creation. I noticed that on most builds the LCD + driver board, GC+, and RVL-amp were fastened in with mounds of hot glue.
I decided to design some custom brackets to hold everything in place as well as be able to mount those boards properly!

After I fully test and build everything, I plan on releasing the files for all of the custom quality of life parts that I've designed/edited for the G-Wii (brackets, low profile buttons, updated dual tact trigger method w/ springs, etc. etc.)

This is shaping up to be a very aesthetic unit
Agreed! The front came out real nice! Love the analog gates! Love the 2 tone aesthetic!

Ahh I see, thanks for explaining! Loving what the bamboo printers are capable of now days! Looks wild!

Still waiting on a few things to arrive in the mail, as well as working on some other projects (+working full-time & doing things for my own business lol), but wanted to share a quick update as I've done quite a bit on the top half of the shell this past week!

I printed more of the buttons including Ridley's eye for the A button. Also snagged some translucent orange sticks on aliexpress that actually match super well to the filament I used.
Slapped in the screen panel, some speakers, and got the face buttons+sticks installed and all feeling pretty nice :)

Next up, planning on getting the 4layer boards installed & doing the general wiring for all that. I used my last trimmed wii on a Louii build recently so I've gotta find some time this month to sit down a trim the other four that I have laying around. Rather do it all in one go to make cleanup easier haha

It looks you studied color theory to make this build! Really visually appealing! For a moment, I thought the 3d printed brackets were black PCBs. Such a stunning choice of colors for the sticks and buttons! I especially love how the orange filament matches the sticks! Can't wait to see more of this!

That might just be the best looking g wii ive seen! might have to build my own custom themed one after im done my ashida.

Been a bit so wanted to share at least a small update!
Last weekend I trimmed a ton of wii boards and started working on one of them today to use for this build. So far I've relocated BT, MX is next, and maybe wifi if I'm feeling freaky.

Also did a bit more work on the top half. Still planning on releasing all of my custom brackets for the screen, amp, and gc+ in a separate post. Just making a few more small tweaks first before they're ready for others to use :P
