I finally have enough money and know how to build an Ashida as my first portable, I will try and get everything ordered in the next week or so, it is going to be a pretty basic Ashida since this is my first portable. The case is going to be printed in PLA+ and then painted in glossy black or white. Please Feel free to comment anything that you think would be useful for a first timer. I do not plan on doing any of the non necessary relocations (MX, wifi, Bluetooth) because I want to streamline the process as much as possible. Thanks to Ginger for his wonderful trimming guide and ashida build streams, they helped me learn a ton!

The speakers listed in the BOM are out of stock, but I found some 0.5w ones on ebay of the same size, would they do the job? And I have heard of an alternate fan that is far better than the BOM one, does anybody know the part number of it?

That's the one I mentioned before. But like I said, I haven't been able to test it. Received a mail that it was ready for delivery this morning.

Everything is ordered, Now for the hardest part of the entire build, waiting for everything to arrive.

Oops, looks like my last message is a bit to late to convince you for going for an rvl-dd.

I opted for the standard driver for this one, mostly because of the money, ill most likely upgrade to it at some point, I just didn't want to spend more than I had to

0.5w speakers might have peaking problems at lower volumes compared to the 0.7w ones from the BOM

The bom ones already have peaking problems on max volume as we discovered with my ashida

Yeah those 0.7w speakers were originally favoured for use with a weaker amp system. The U-Amp and RVL-Amp are notably stronger and really should be used with 1w or 1.5w speakers, but the availability for that in the same little form factor is greatly diminished overseas. Eventually when I get around to doing the omnibus stuff and modding the Ashida shell for my own build, I'll release a modular mounting solution for speakers, vibration motors, and batteries that lets us pick from a wider pool of options.

For me, it's also important to have some decated room for the wifi antenna's. Then we could have 2 smaller vibration motors in the handles

Most guides I find say that you need a usb drive and SD card, But I assume those were made before the PMS pd 3 came out, so dont I only need a micro sd for homebrew and RVLoader+ storage later on?

Well, you need either an sd card reader or usb drive till you trimmed bc you need to install priiloader and rvloader before you trim the wii. The sd card is to install homebrew, but everything after is done via the usb port.
The pms pd 3 is basically seen as a usb drive.

You'll initially need a SD card and USB to install letterbomb and mod your wii to get RVLoader installed but once its installed all you'll need is USB (or the PMS-PD which has a SD to USB converter on it, so essentially just a SD card).

Hope this helps!

Is the Wii particular about the USB drive or SD card that you use? Or will any work? I have a 512 GB micro SD card I was planning to use, along with some random USB drives ranging from 4 GB to 16 GB.

Those should be fine!

The 512GB should be fine, but if you have issues, it might be bc of the brand of sd card. Don't know if 1TB or higher would be problematic, but 512GB should be fine to have all or most games you want to actually play. I use a 256 samsung sd card myself and it works perfect and holds all GC, Wii, virtual console,(wiiware,) snes and GBA games I want. (I have an SNES and a GB-> GBA emulator) I still have space to add more games if I want to.
Put wiiware between brackets since wiiware didn't work for some reason.

The Victim Wii has just arrived, I had to take the top shell off because it was broken and interfering with the cord ports, besides that, console functions just fine, plus it already has the homebrew channel.

That's dangerous, it probably already has cios installed, you'll need to do a check on that. If it has, then you'll have to reset the wii to factory settings. I forgot the mods that are used to check it and to reset the wii. I think the check mod was called syscheck.

I might just reset it anyway, I dont want to fool around with another program.
