Model Nintendo 2DS Console

Hello, i am working on a full body replacement, but i cant find a sleep mode slider anywhere that i can print.

@Kamp and everyone.

Hey so I did a test print of the battery cover. Printed with PLA transparent on my ender 3 s1 (not the greatest but decent enough). The tabs are pretty easy besides the lone one near the top of the cover, that one broke when I put in in (tolerance??). Attached are images. I feel like when working on projects like this either your printer has to lock in, or you have a bambu lab, other option is resin? Maybe once there are complete files for the full shell.....I might try printing or just ordering thru an online printing service. Also I made a circle pad very simple, and printed it in TPU for my replacement one!

Was anyone keen to start a discord server for this project (if there wasn't already one) ?? I'm thinking of attempting it based on the files would appreciate any advice etc!

Thank you so much for these scans, Wesk!
I modeled and tested a 3D printed battery cover to complete the set!

I've attached the STL to this post. It's been printed and tested with a 0.2 and 0.4mm nozzle from Bambulabs printers by myself and redherring32.

I didn't include the small bumps so that it can be printed flat face down.
Some supports are needed for the latches in that orientation.
If you print one, feel free to send me a pic!
If there are inaccuracies with the model, let me know! Happy printing!
@Kamp I'm interested in purchasing your 2DS shell files if you were planning on doing that? Super cool project! And super well modelled! I'm an industrial designer so I know it took a while to do it! Anyone else working on making the files either? Keen to see more updates. Enjoy the rest of your week everyone!

I truly appreciate your work. I'm a Nintendo fan, and I never dreamed I'd find a project like this. Now I can customize my collection with the Bambulab A1.

I was happy to support you on Kofi, thank you so much.

Someone have the file of the "R" shoulder button, i don't find it in the project?

thanks fo help

The "R" shoulder button is not included in these scans. If you look at the image Wesk posted of the assembled console, you can see he just used the "L" shoulder trigger on both sides of the assembled model.

Great work on these, they fit very well in the model that I'm working on!

Now I just need the power button and sleep mode slider!
Hay @Kamp , is there any chance you could share the STEP Files of the project that those screenshots are from? i'm currently fixing up an old 2Ds and i have been looking for someone selling the side/top pieces, the stylus cover and the LR buttons in white for about a month now and have had no luck, i do have a friend with a resin printer tho so the 3D files would be Very helpful.
I'd be very happy to send a couple euros your way if that helps you with finding and uploading the files ;)

Since noone has done it so far, heres a 3D model of the Volume Slider.
You should be able to clone the Onshape workspace for yourself or export the 3D model.

Honestly it's just annoying how they're selectively ignoring this topic when they're regularly active elsewhere. I understand if they won't share the files for free, but at least let people pay for the shells, especially given that it's impossible to find replacement shells online. It is pretty annoying when people dangle stuff like this in front of you but won't even offer the product or model for sale.

You're right, I bet Kamp spends all day kicking his feet and giggling thinking about how he made some progress on a shell and posted about it, solely to get negative attention from dickheads like you.

You are not entitled to anyone's work or time. The fact that you see Kamp working on other projects, and responding to other people's threads as "annoying" shows that you really don't understand how a hobby like this works. Get lost.

With respect I didn't say that I felt entitled to anything, I even said I would pay for even just a shell. I completely understand how people in this hobby may not release their stuff, they have every right not to, anyways I understand how people like Kamp may not feel entirely comfortable selling the model or shell in an incomplete state, it's just a small heads up that this was the case would've been appreciated rather than radio silence. Anyways apologies if what I said came across as anything sinister, I won't sugarcoat any explanations, I was straight up ignorant.

I think this might just be a case of crossed wires rather than anyone acting in bad faith. Insults and swearing do not contribute to a discussion and only distract from the points at hand.

Nobody is entitled to Kamp’s work. Hobby projects take a lot of time, and creators are fully within their rights to keep files private, release them later, or never release them at all. Even I am working on my own version of optimizing the 2DS back shell and battery cover, and it is extremely difficult to model accurately. For now, I have put that project on the backburner.

It is also completely normal for people to ask whether files or parts might ever become available. Complete shell and part replacements for the 2DS are very hard to find, so curiosity is natural. In many cases, it is just a request for a small update. In that sense, it is like waiting to hear back from a job application: a clear no is easier to process than being left in silence. That is fair, and beyond our control if it does not happen.

From what I read, skywalker75 was explicit that they were not demanding anything and were even willing to pay if something became available. Their intention was curiosity, not entitlement.

In hobby communities, people share progress and ask questions, and sometimes projects are not released because they are incomplete or the creator wants them to be perfect first. That is entirely normal, and a simple update can prevent misunderstandings.

The project itself is interesting, and it is always valuable to see work documented. Hopefully the thread can remain focused on that rather than personal attacks.
