Hello. I got a used ps1 a while back and after a bit of working just fine the controller became unresponsive. I've been struggling to diagnose the cause for a while now, and could really use some help. I'll try to provide as much info as possible. For starters, I've tested multiple controllers that are confirmed functional. When I use dualshocks, I can even see the analog button light up if pressed. So the controllers seem to be getting power (?), but aren't being recognized. The most common problem I've seen related to this was a blown fuse near ps605 labeled with a 15.
Mine read fine. I then kept seeing mention of 6 diodes (d106-d112) that occasionally cause controller problems. This is when I found out that every documentation I'd found on related issues was about pu-18 boards (55xx) while mine is a pu-22 (75xx) and does not have those 6 like that from what I could find. I found a d101, d103, and a d111 but I'm not sure if they provide the same function and I didn't see any weird readings. I also tested every pin on the ribbon cable connector. Also checked the power supply fuse just because, no issues there either.
I have the inner shield on for now because I don't to touch it until I'm absolutely positive the problem would have to be underneath. I've included a pic from GamingDoc that has the plate taken off in case you need to see what's there, and if you visit the actual page for it you'll be able to zoom in.
Sorry if this isn't enough info or I've missed something simple. Maybe I didn't catch a faulty reading somewhere. I don't have any real experience with console repairs and I ran out of search results on the matter so I was at a loss on how to continue. Any help is appreciated and I'll try to answer any questions as best I can.
