I was doing my first wii trim and I don't know if the trace is vitally damaged or if the wii will short circuit when I turn it on. I don't have a pms in hand to test so I'm relying on external help

Should be fine, it looks like you just scratched the solder mask off and didnt actually penetrate any layer. When you are finished trimming, make sure to check the resistances exactly as described in the wii trim resistances thread. As long as they are somewhar similar your trim has most likely been succesful. Good luck!

Edit: Also I recommend taping the edges of the cpu and gpu up with electrical or kapton tape to prevent stray copper from getting under the chips and shorting them out. Make sure that you either have some dust collection going on or that you are in a well ventilated area. Also make sure that you are wearing some kind of mask as to not breathe in the fibreglass dust that is generated when trimming.

Thanks, I was doing outside with a painters mask but I thought a could get away with a graphite Dremel disk which bounced around.

Yeah a diamond disk is kind of a must, last I checkesd they werent too expensive, make sure too set your dremel to a high rpm and ideally bolt the wii to a sacrificial piece of Wood so its steady and you can easily cut it without risking damage to it or yourself.
