The "amplifier" on the Wii motherboard is just a preamp and isn't sufficient to drive speakers or anything like that. I reccomend not powering the preamp and just pulling audio from before the preamp, closer to the AVE.

You can, but it won't help any. It can actually create distortion due to undervolting.
