Question AVE-HDMI Console Install - Help!

I did something like this for the mechanical install of the hdmi port. I just used solder and attached the lugs to the gold ground plane at about the same depth as the other ports. Use the Mini hdmi breakout for that one. That way its pretty much in the same place as the wii dual install and you can cut the case accordingly.

You will have to redrill through the breakout pcb to retain the holes for mounting the fan though.

Nice work! That's basically exactly what I'm going to for my build once I get my new AVE-HDMI with a FFC. I ordered the Mini-HDMI variant as well. Soldering to ground plane is a great idea. What kind of wire did you use here btw?

I am connecting the video data lines with 34awg magnet wire... with 54mhz twisted tightly with a grounded magnet wire. And 28awg for power and ground.

Where did you guys get the orange flex thing to wire to the chip? It looks like the one that comes with the WiiDual kit.

You are right, they are WiiDual Flex Cables. citrus3000psi still sells them on his site. Here is the link:

They are very convenient... just don't show it to @YveltalGriffin. They hurt his eyes..

One important test is to make sure you are actually connected to the pin... Use a meter probe on the pad and the other on the TOP of the ave pin. Also, check for shorts between adjacent pins... I've had good luck with them in the past but direct to ave via wiring is certainly the most secure in the long run.
