Hi everyone,
I'm organizing a group buy for assembled WavePhoenix PCBs from PCBWay. I'm based in Australia so in the interests of keeping it manageable I'm limiting it to people in Australia, and maybe New Zealand. Accordingly all values are in AUD.

PCBWay can do 20 fully-assembled PCB's for about $13 AUD each. I'm thinking I'll also offer to program the boards for a tiny bit extra to cover the effort to unpack, program, test, and repack the board. Maybe like an extra buck or two each or something.

Depending on how interested people are I might also do some 3D printed cases. I'd have to figure that out a bit more because of the extra work, but maybe like $5?

I'll price up some bulk orders for parts for the cable, but I dont think I can be bothered to make 20 cables.

I've already got interest for 5 including myself, leave a reply below if you are interested and let me know if you'd like multiple, or programming, or other parts that I've mentioned. Once I get to like 15 people/PCBs, I'll put the order in and collect people's payments prior to shipping to them. I'll check out shipping options from here and update the thread with an estimate late but I think they'd fit in a small bag for like $10 bucks.

So that's the plan. Let me know what you think. Most importantly, I want to give a massive thanks to @loopjfor his work, and for releasing it so that we can use it.
Cheers!

Put me down for 4 of them. Ain't got no Wavebirds yet, but no time like the present!

Wow, nice. A couple more people like that and we should be sorted.

At the moment I've got interest for 8 of 20, I had someone miss that it was only Aus/NZ.

I think I'll put the order in this weekend, I was gonna hold off till 15 but I guess once I have them I can just distribute them slowly. Better than having people lose interest.

Hey All, sorry for the long delay. I ended up dropping the order to 10 boards because I couldn't find anyone else who wanted to join. That brought the price per board to $16 AUD, assembled and shipped to me. I've attached the invoice as well. I put the order in a week or two ago and they've arrived and I've started preparing to program and test them.

I'm planning to buy components for the cables this weekend, so I want to see if anyone would like me to add them to a group order for the cables as well, and/or to print up the enclosure? I'll just do the cable parts for whatever I can get them delivered (will update once I know), and maybe 5 bucks for a FDM 3D-printed enclosure?

Hey Stitches,
I've finally got together all the parts, crimped the tiny wires, and fiddled around with Pico programmers, and I've got 4 mostly assembled* Wave Phoenix receivers ready for you!

* They are programmed and assembled to the point of just needing to be separated and pressed into a 3D printed enclosure, along with the PMMA light pipe which is also in the bags (plus a spare just in case!). Also, I've left the light pipes longer so that you can sand the ends down nicely if you want, or just trim the last 2mm off with side cutters.

They've all been tested to bind with and respond to inputs on an original Wavebird controller, and I didn't have a single dud. I was expecting at least one DOA unit, but I guess Loopj did a good job with the design and documentation.

As is, they've come in at $26.5 each (plus mailing cost). I can include 3D printed cases and make them $30 each if you like, just let me know. Otherwise we can exchange payment and shipping details privately.

Cheers!
