I just finished up wiring everything on my ashida but now the microsd card can't be detected when booting up the system. It worked with it when I trimmed the wii and was testing it on my little setup. I used the sound option on the Multimeter to see if the wii was detecting the d+ and d- pins on my pms pd3 and it did go off so I know my soldering shouldn't be the cause of this issue. I've also tried 2 different microsd cards and still get the same result. I don't know what else to do at this point. :(

The soldering on the Vias looks okay. Just make sure you did not mix up D+ and D-. The wire on UP looks like it is fraying. It might not be the cause but it should be fixed.

I double triple checked on the Wii trim forum, I don’t think it’s that. But yeah I’ll have to resold the UP wire. I think it might have to do something with the 3.3V because I have 4 wires going to the 2 solder pads.

I used another extra pd board I had laying around and I still got the same result. Does the data wires require a bigger gauge? I used 34 gauge and I’m wondering if that has anything to do with it.

I used 30 gauge magnet wire for my usb lines I am no expert but it seems to me like 34 gauge might be pushing it. One thing I noticed is your usb wires are not twisted as tight as the ones I have on my trim. Also your wires look like they are tinned pretty good on the WII but I cant tell if the ones attached to the PMS are. I have had trouble tinning cheap magnet wire. Make sure it is actual tinned with shiny solder and the solder is not just stuck to the outside of the wire.

TLDR:
I would first try re-tinning the twisted wires on the side attached to the PMS, if that does not work re-twisting some wires but much tighter (preferably in a 32/30 gauge wire).

Also 4 wires going out of 3.3v should be fine maybe check voltage with a multimeter to make sure. My Ashida has 4 wires on 3.3v and I have USB working fine

I twisted some 30 awg tighter than the photo. Still doesn’t read the microsd. Now I’m wondering if it’s my trim that’s bad.

The gauge of the wire shouldn't be the problem, since the usb lines are data with very low current going through them.

For the twisting, using a drill and twisting until it breaks off is the recommended method. Here is an example from YveltalGriffin on the discord for how it should look:

If it still doesn't work, try the other set of usb vias. Sometimes static can damage the usb lines.

one more thing, your usb wires don't look super long but for a proper boot they should be as short as possible It's probably worth trying to shorten the wire a bit to rule out wire length. Other than that I would second what @fluffypenguin said and would recommend to try the USB vias for a different port. For one more sanity check you could make sure you have continuity and a low resistance between the pad on the PMS-PD and the via on the WII.
